Hello (or, hi from Heidegger)

"The thing is a thing insofar as it things."

This quote is from Martin Heidegger's essay, 'The Thing'. This was originally delivered as a lecture to the Bayerischen Akademie der Schönen Kunste, shortly after the end of World War II. The focus of his lecture was a deceptively simple question: What is a thing?

Without delving too deeply into Heidegger's philosophical thought (that's for another time), his famous quote seems appropriate for this first post.

This blog is all about things, and what they mean to us.
